Job Description

Our Downtown Los Angeles office is seeking a law clerk with cross border transaction experience for our Business and Estate Planning practice. This is a key opportunity for a candidate with law degree from India and LL.M. or two years of law school education in the US.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Law degree from India; preferrably with Bar license
  • US legal education; LL.M. preferred
  • Knowledge about Indian laws and practice
  • Excellent knowledge of WestLaw and Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable working in a team environment, yet demonstrates ability to work independently
  • Able to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism and maintain confidentiality of all such information
  • Strong drafting skills, with an ability to draft corporate documents with limited guidance
  • Attention for detail and excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Principal contact for cross-border Indian-US legal work
  • Conduct legal research, prepare memos, and remain current on the changes and developments to laws and policies in India, involving US-India business relations
  • Prepare legal documents such as Articles of Incorporation/Amendment/Amalgamation/Continuance, Annual Minutes, By-Laws, Share and Asset Purchase Agreements, Shareholder Agreements, Debentures and Leases
  • Files or supervises electronic and paper filing of documents for clients’ entity incorporation and offers suggestions on areas of opportunity or improvement
  • Primarily handle intake from new clients, maintain and organize client profile, and prepare legal documents for estate planning relating to India and US properties
  • Provides clerk and/or administrative support for special projects or assignments of a confidential nature
